The World Executive Council announces the next General Assembly, which will take place from 31 July to 9 August 2028 in Suwon, South Korea a significant milestone for both the Korean community and the World Community.
With joy and gratitude, the World Executive Council is pleased to announce that the 2028 CLC World Assembly will be hosted by the Spiritual Education Center of the Diocese of Suwon, South Korea, from 31 July to 9 August 2028.
This decision concludes the first phase of a year-long discernment process in which several national communities generously explored the possibility of hosting this important gathering. Four communities ultimately submitted full proposals, each offering their gifts and availability in service of the World Community.
Following a process of prayer, spiritual conversation, and communal discernment, the World Executive Council confirmed South Korea as the host community. Preparations have already begun in close collaboration with the Korean National Community.
The Assembly will hold special significance for CLC Korea, which will celebrate the 30th anniversary of its affiliation to the World Community, formalized at the Itaici Assembly in 1998. Over the past three decades, the Korean community has become a vibrant presence in the World Community through its commitment to formation, apostolic initiatives, and active participation in our common mission.
In their response, the Korean National Council received the decision “with humility and joy,” expressing their desire to walk this journey together with the World Community and entrusting the preparation process to the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
More than an event, a World Assembly is a spiritual journey of communion, discernment, and mission. As we begin this path toward 2028, we invite all communities to keep the Korean community and the preparation team in their prayers, asking the Lord to guide us as we continue responding together to His call.
“Lord, show us your way.”
