Following the discernment process communicated in January by the President of CLC, Chris Micallef, Manuel Martínez has formally assumed the service of Executive Secretary of the Christian Life Community. He takes up this responsibility after Elena’s decision to conclude her mandate. The World Council expresses its sincere gratitude to Elena for her generous dedication and valuable service during her time in office.
Manuel, 40, was born in Montevideo, Uruguay, and has been a member of CLC since 2005. His personal and professional journey has been deeply shaped by Ignatian spirituality. He previously served as Executive Secretary in Rome, accompanying global processes and strengthening coordination in support of the World Council and the wider Community. He is married with Leticia since 2023.
In assuming this responsibility, Manuel emphasizes both the spiritual and organizational dimensions of the service: “I receive this mission in a spirit of availability and discernment. I believe that careful coordination, clarity of processes, and good governance are concrete ways of serving communion and strengthening our apostolic mission. My desire is to help ensure continuity, coherence, and collaboration within our Community, so that together we may respond generously to Christ’s call.”
