LXV National Assembly of CLC in Mexico

With a sincere desire to listen to the Spirit and walk together, from November 15 to 17, 2025, the Christian Life Community in Mexico gathered to celebrate its LXV National Assembly under the theme “How to Be a Synodal and Missionary Church from Our CLC Charism.” These were days marked by prayer, fraternal encounter, and a profound exercise of communal discernment.

The Assembly began in a spirit of gratitude. From the very first moment, prayer disposed us to open our hearts and allow ourselves to be touched by the voice of God, manifested in the words of our brothers and sisters. We arrived from different regions of the country, with diverse histories, realities, and challenges, yet with one shared desire: to recognize ourselves as one National Community called to live synodality through Ignatian spirituality.

The gathering was filled with faces, names, and shared memories. Communities, regions, and new members were acknowledged, and communion with the worldwide CLC was made present through fraternal greetings from Latin America. All of this wove together an atmosphere of deep belonging and communal joy.

Our reflection was illuminated by Sister Dolores Palencia, CSJ , who, drawing on her experience in the Synod on Synodality, reminded us that the Church is not reduced to structures or documents, but is built through listening, prayer, and shared responsibility. Her words resonated as a clear call: synodality is about healing, weaving relationships, and learning from one another, recognizing ourselves as the People of God on mission.

Subsequently, Fr. Pablo Mella, SJ,invited us to delve more deeply into our CLC identity within this synodal journey. With clarity and evangelical boldness, he affirmed that synodality is not a passing method, but a way of being Church today. From this perspective, CLC was recognized as a true laboratory of synodality, where we learn to listen, discern, and walk together, moving from discourse to structures and from intention to concrete mission.

Times of personal prayer and spiritual conversation allowed each participant to speak from the heart and to listen deeply. In small groups, we shared the movements that the Spirit was stirring, recognizing our lights, our fragilities, and our calls. This exercise strengthened our awareness that communal discernment is a gift that must be nurtured and learned.

On the second day, our shared journey led us to a common call: the frontier of the family.. There we recognized a space where many of the realities that challenge the Church and society today converge: young people in search of meaning, material and emotional poverty, migration, new family configurations, digital culture, and a profound need for listening. The family, in its diversity and fragility, emerged as a privileged place—the space that heals — where CLC is called to accompany, to touch wounds and allow itself to be touched, with the challenge of becoming a community-family on all frontiers.

The Assembly was also a celebration. During the shared Eucharist, the ceremony of temporary and permanent commitments of new members was experienced with special emotion, a sign of hope and renewal for the Community. The celebration that followed expressed the simple joy of knowing ourselves as brothers and sisters walking together in a single project of faith.

On the final day, reports on the participation of the entire community and of the COSENwere presented, the new treasury team was ratified, and amendments to the regulations were approved to strengthen participation, including the integration of the voices of young people in national coordination spaces. Likewise, new communities were formally sent forth, reaffirming the missionary dynamism of CLC in Mexico.

At the conclusion of the LXV National Assembly, a shared certainty remained in our hearts: the Spirit continues to call us to be a more open, inclusive, and co-responsible CLC, willing to listen, discern, and serve with closeness. With renewed hope, we returned to our communities with the desire to continue walking together, faithful to our charism and to the call to “In all things love and serve.”
