‘The Synod is a process (…), it is the way’

I am deeply grateful for the gift of having participated in the
Synod in the role of ‘Expert Facilitator’. I have seen from a privileged position that synodality is a process and this fact was especially evident in this second session where I saw true ‘friends in the Lord’ who met again to continue walking together. In other words, the experience of synodality is the way.
That discernment in the Church is very important so that we all understand our role in having equal dignity in the Church through baptism and that it is that same baptism that makes us co-responsible for the transmission of faith in Christ, which is, ultimately, the mission of the Church: to bring about the Kingdom of God on earth.
I perceived the diversity of gifts that exist in our Church, all of which are all inspired by the Spirit. And that in this diversity it moves through the world in a unity guaranteed by the Pope. Proof of this was this experience of three years of Synod.
I experienced the richness of conversation in the Spirit as a tool and I believe that Ignatian spirituality has a lot to contribute to this, as this is what we do in our community meetings: sharing the gifts we have received in prayer.
The final document is very rich and needs to be worked on in community. It is an itinerary that tells what synodality is and updates what our future together as Church can be.
