Fr. Jim Borbely SJ, CLC-USA EA
Fr. Jim Borbely S.J. Ecclesial Assistant for CLC USA died on August 1st after a short illness. Please keep him and his family and friends in your prayers.
Father Jim’s experience with CLC included facilitating the discernment process at the World Assembly in Guadalajara Mexico in 1990 when Christian Life Community adopted the revised General Principles and General Norms. For years afterwards, he served as a consultant and resource person to CLC-USA as we sought ways – in our diversity – to grow into “one body” and to more effectively organize our national community for mission. In 2012 he assumed the position of CLC-USA National Ecclesial Assistant. He served in this capacity until his death.
We are grateful for Fr. Jim's gifts to our community, his deep insight into Ignatian group life and communal discernment and his commitment to CLC as a lay Ignatian body.

In thanksgiving and remembrance
It is with deep sympathies that we bring news of the passing of Fred Leone.
Fred and his wife Betty were instrumental CLC leaders in both the USA level, and the world community level, dedicating much effort during the transition period and in working towards CLC's NGO recognition in the United Nations. As National President of Sodalities in the USA in 1967, the national community's shift from Sodalities to the World Federation of CLCs became a reality during Fred's term of office. He served in the World ExCo as Vice President from 1970-76 and 1979-82. His 93 years of life was marked by a generous support for the community, and an emphasis on works for justice.
Let us spend a moment of silence in thanksgiving for his life, and the life he has brought to our world community-- gifts that we shall continue to hold as we move forward into the future with hope.

Pilgrimage for peace in Syria
CLC Sri Lanka committed its annual pilgrimage to Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Aiyithiyamalai village situated nearly 20Km away from Batticaloa city on Sept 7th for the innocent Syrian people and for the peaceful situation in Syria.
CLC Sri Lanka message
The celebration provided our members with an opportunity to reflect on the theme of Projects 147--from its broadest sense of showing love for one another in a concrete way and living the CLC way of life, to becoming more aware of the needs of the poor in various parts of the world, and more specifically, to sharing in the financial responsibility for our mission. The celebration helped us to experience what it means to belong to a world community. It also provided a special opportunity for us to reach out to an Asian neighbor and show solidarity with CLC-Japan in their time of great need.
The first world CLC day in Transylvania (Romania)
It was a great joy for us to organise this meeting on the 3rd April in the diocese of Satu Mare.
It was such a pleasure, that different groups from North Transylvania could celebrate this world day. In the same time through this event, we felt connected with the world community.
Corresponding to the actual situation of our country, we have dealt with the problem of poverty and responsability for each other
We wanted to find the answer what we concretly have to do individually and as group: to solve those problems. In this activity we were guided by the Bible verses Luke 12:13-34.
United in common prayer
Dear friends in Christ!
At the beginning, a nice greeting everyone from the Croatia!
I think that we have never represent our small community to the world community!
This year (2011) we celebrated the 20th anniversary of CLC Croatia. In this years, about 100 persons passed the formation of CLC, and now, we are about 30 active members.
We celebrated our anniversary together with World Day of CLC in february, and, as you can see in photos.
Your letter (Projetcs 147) have encouraged us to contribute to Africa fund.
We wish you God's blessings to all and best regards!

"Hi all, however the World CLC Day could not pass unnoticed what happened in Japan, so that in the celebration on Friday March 25th we were always present in these events.
In Ayacucho, we gathered CLCers not just us but also the friends that always accompany us.
At the end we all end up happy with the meeting.
It is our best hope for the P. Francisco Chamberlain SJ recover soon (located in Lima) and we back into the CLC Ayacucho.
We thank P. Jose Antonio Recharte SJ for joining in the celebrations.

1) meeting of CLC with Fr General, and some members made their commitment to this meeting in the presence of Fr. Adolfo Nicolás sj
2) after the meeting there was a Mass with Fr General during which two Jesuits made their solemn vows".

CLC France - Bordeaux
March 25, 2011 in Bordeaux, France
A worldwide celebration that will be remembered!
A hundred people gathered for the Eucharist during which six were celebrated ongoing commitments in CLC.
After the celebration we're all invited to a splendid meal for which each community has brought a dish from a country in the world, and thus we are united by "the sense" to the world community! All were surpassed and it is a treat!
A slide show presents how CLC France participates in the life of the world community and the "financial co-responsibility for the mission" theme of this World Day has become a bit more practical for everyone. Reading a letter from the assistant of CLC Japan is a very emotional moment and makes us even closer to this community and all Japanese tried by the earthquake.
A really great party where we expanded the size of the heart to the world ...
"Dear world community:

CLC Day & Night, 19 Mar 2011
The Theme of the day was “Outreach – Building Community for the sake of the Kingdom”, which started with members’ sharing on participation in the Seoul Congress of Catholic Laity and CLC Asia Pacific Assembly. The day programme ended with a plenary session and celebration Mass.
We had a wonderful combination of adult and young members plus family members joining the evening activities. We enjoyed the delicious meal in the Canteen with special order of barbecued pork and oven-roasted sausages to quench our hunger for barbecued food.

WORLD CLC DAY EVENT- 25 March 2011
For the world CLC Day, our CLC (Ixthus) used the opportunity to focus a time of prayer, input and reflection using Projects #147. Our communal mission for the past year has been working in collaboration with members of Churches and civil organizations in an effort aimed at the elimination of poverty on Prince Edward Island (the province in Canada that we live in). We recognized that this would be a long term mission, yet, in reflecting on Projects #147, we felt confirmed in the mission choice that we were led to make.
